Introducing Social Prescribing

Hope & Healing For Those Who Need It Most

Across our nation, mental health, social isolation and loneliness are among the most pressing challenges affecting individuals and communities.

The recent NAYBA Impact Audit of Tasmania highlighted the unique role churches & faith groups can play in addressing these challenges, and the amazing services that already exist – from social groups to community meals to chaplaincy support. However, such services aren't always known or accessed by the broader community, leaving healthcare and other professionals to carry much of the burden.

Thankfully, the concept of ‘social prescribing’ could change all that, by enabling those struggling with mental ill-health or social isolation to be connected with community-based activities and services that can help meet their physical, social and emotional needs.

NAYBA is delighted to be part of a pilot project to explore what social prescribing could look like in Tasmania. We see a future where churches come alongside key stakeholders from across the state to offer hope and healing to those who need it most.

If you would like to be part of this project, we'd love to hear from you! There are a number of ways you can get involved:

1. Join our pilot in Tassie
